### Radiation Exposure to the Surgeon and the Patient During Posterior Lumbar Spinal Instrumentation: A Prospective Randomized Comparison of Navigated Versus Non-navigated Freehand Techniques

This case study from the Spine Journal compares occupational radiation exposure to the surgeon as well as the patient, during posterior lumbar spine instrumentation in 10 navigated cases.

The results are clear. Navigation increases accuracy and provides further benefits—while reducing the radiation exposure to the surgeon.
